Chaos Technology & Forbidden Technology – How It Works
Prohibited Techniques
Forbidden technology is unlocked by placing fusion rods in a ship’s Forbidden Technology slot. Each technology has a tier and a level: The tier is increased using Tier Upgrade Catalysts, and the level is increased using protomatter, which boosts the technology’s stats.
An upgrade attempt consumes reactors and may fail—the chance of success can be increased using probability devices. Most technologies are unlocked through the Forbidden Technology Refinery using fragments of the same rarity obtained from Q’s Trials and other event rewards.
Chaos Technology
Chaos Technology uses the same slot and the same tier/level system as Forbidden Technology, but is unlocked and upgraded using its own currencies, which are earned in the Continuum and by defeating assimilated Caryn, Prohibitor, and Frohmun enemies (Chaos Modules).
The big difference: Chaos Technology upgrades can’t fail—every attempt is a guaranteed success.
